Engineering geological mapping contributes to establishing the regularities of changes in the engineering geological conditions occurring in the areas affected by human activities. Special maps portraying the changes have been developed to achieve this purpose. The maps are to comprise the following groups of factors: (a) composition and structure of the geological environment; (b) kind of the engineering activity, and (c) intensity of impact of engineering constructions upon the geological environment. The maps can be instrumental in selecting experimental sites for carrying out special studies aimed at gaining insight into the dynamics of anthropogeneous processes. Also, they can provide a basis for the multidisciplinary forecasting of the engineering geological processes resulting from the development of territories.
