Seismic microzoning can be accomplished by various methods. One of these methods is based on geological data and the relations between the lithological rock types, rock properties, and groundwater table, the topography and slope stability. A very helpful medium in the preparation process are engineering geological zoning maps which comprise all the above-mentioned data. The aim of this paper is to present principles of seismic microzoning in Czechoslovakia based on engineering geological maps; illustrated by an example.
