This review of 55 patients with colovesical fistulas confirms that the condition is most frequently caused by diverticulitis and most commonly occurs in the elderly. Women are less often affected than men, presumably because of the protection that the uterus gives the bladder and because an abscess may drain alternatively through the vagina. These findings are in agreement with several recent reviews.1, 4–7
