Abstract

Lac steno-oligotrophe au debut du siecle, le Leman francais (234 km2), peuple alors de coregones, etait devenu vers 1922, a la suite de peches abusives, un lac a perches et a poissons blancs (gardon, ablette surtout). A la suite de repeuplements continus et peut-etre aussi grâce a une certaine surexploitation, les coregones occuperent a nouveau jusqu'en 1960 une place raisonnable dans les captures du lac, pour diminuer ensuite. Cependant en 1973, ils formerent avec les perches et les poissons blancs, en parties presque egales, 90% des captures. Il existe un equilibre instable entre ces trois groupes, les poissons blancs etant favorises actuellement par l'eutrophisation acceleree. Les efforts de l'administration tendent a freiner l'extension de ces derniers, de peu de valeur.
