We demonstrated pathological changes in the trabecular meshwork in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and various types of secondary open-angle glaucoma eyes. In POAG eyes, a sheath material of the elastic-like fiber was found to be significantly greater in the juxtacanalicular tissue. In secondary open-angle glaucoma eyes, several kinds of changes responsible for increased resistance of aqueous outflow were observed in or around the trabecular meshwork. The inner wall endothelial cells of Schlemm's canal were partially or extensively absent in capsular glaucoma and amyloid glaucoma eyes.
