A compact gage has been developed to measure transient velocities up to about 600 cm/sec. The design is based on the principle of a highly overdamped seismic oscillator. Frequency response of the gage is flat from 1 to 500 cps. The gage can be used at any inclination and measures the velocity component along one axis only unaffected by crosswise motion.
