Measurements of the three in-plane elements of the strain tensor near a crack tip have been combined with the material constitutive behavior to compute the three inplane elements of the stress tensor and the mean stress. The method is illustrated with fatigue-crack plasticity results for 7075-T651 aluminum alloy.
