A tidal power barrage will locally reduce the rise and fall of water level in the reservoir it creates when it produces electricity from the energy of the tides. This Paper sets out the character and principal effects of such a physical change, and indicates the possible influence of these changes on a range of environmental issues. The presentation is made in the context of information compiled for the Severn Estuary, UK.
