Nonproteolytic enzymes in gastric juice

Abstract

1. By maintaining the pH of the gastric contents above 7, a series of nonproteolytic enzymes have been demonstrated to be present in gastric juice. These include lactic dehydrogenase, isocitric dehydrogenase, leucine aminopeptidase, alkaline phosphatase, glutamic oxalocetic transaminase, glutamic pyruvic transaminase, ribonuclease, beta-glucuronidase. Enzymes sought and not found include 6-phosphogluconic dehydrogenase, alpha-ketoglutaric dehydrogenase, and fructose 1–6 diphosphatase.
