Die Atmung einzelner Pantoffeltierchen (Paramecium aurelia) aus Serien-isolierten Kulturen wurde mit Hilfe eines Cartesischen Tauchers gemessen. Die Messungen an Individuen vor und nach Autogamie (Selbstbefruchtung) zeigten, dass die Atmung nach Autogamie in signifikanter Weise ansteigt.
