A rapid extraction separation of Ba2+ from Sr2+ with a nitrobenzene solution of sodium dicarbollylcobaltate /NaDCC/ in the presence of polyethylene glycol having mean relative molecular weight 400 /PEG 400/ and tetrasodium salt of trans-cyclohexane-1,2-diamine-N,N,N′,N′-tetraacetic acid /Na4L/ was developed. The separation factor αBa/Sr was approximately 104.
