Des individus deCereus pedunculatus se reproduisant dans l'aquarium de Livourne n'ont produit que des femelles, sans aucune trace de spermatogenese. L'elevage d'exemplaires isoles a donne une premiere et une seconde generation toujours de femelles. C'est le second cas de parthenogenese signale jusqu'a present chez les Cnidaires et le premier chez les Anthozoaires.
