Studying the length of life of Dermatophyton settled on textile it was found that these fungi keep their original properties entirely intact even in a completely dry state for several years. All this makes it highly probable that they preserve their vitality for a long time also on dry leaflitter. The new research methode ofSzathmary was later on extended to the plumage of fowel. The research system used for cultivation was usually as follows: 1. layer of sterile soil was placed in Petri-dishes; 2. the test material was placed on the soil layers; 3. this was covered with sterile textile; 4. sterile feathers ofGallus gallus cut up fine were spread on the top. Cultivation was made at 20–22° C. The fungi colonies appeared on the feathers after 3–4 weeks. On leaf-litters originating in different plants, aleuriesporie fungi were cultivated with the new method. The fungi most often found here were those belonging to the genus ofTrichophyton mentagrophytes.
