In 4 fotalen menschlichen Herzen im Alter von 10–16 Wochen fanden sich wohl intrazellulare Katecholamine, hingegen keine adrenergischen Nervenendigungen. Das fotale Herz durfte somit zumindest im Beginn seines Lebens adrenergisch gesteuert sein.
