Abstract

1. Die Wurzelfrucht der Zuckerrube stellt, vom Kopf nach unten gerechnet, eine echte Wurzel dar; in dem oberen Abschnitt des verdickten Teils ist sie jedoch haufig einer Metamorphose unterworfen, und es tritt ein zentrales Parenchym auf. 2. Die Wurzel der Zuckerrube in dem verdickten Teil ist ein kombiniertes Organ. Im Zentrum ist das primare Xylem und das normale sekundare Xylem kambialen Ursprungs gelegen. Um dieses zentrale System erwachsen in konzentrischen Kreisen die Gefasbundel perizyklischer Abstammung (oder aus der des Parenchyms des primaren Bastes), die nichts anderes als die Blattspuren der Blattrosette vorstellen. 3. Die Anzahl der Schichtungsringe in der Wurzel der Zuckerrube ist gleich der Anzahl der Rosettenblatter, geteilt durchdrei odersechs. 4. Um den Bau der Wurzel zu verstehen, mus die Beteiligung der Blatter an der Bildung der Wurzelstruktur in Rechnung gezogen werden.
