Es wird gezeigt, dassBacillus cereus die Disaccharid Trehalose fermentieren kann. Die fur diese Fermentwirkung benotigte Trehalase wurde durch das Substrat ermoglicht, wahrend Puromycin den Vorgang verhinderte. Dies beweist die Notwendigkeit einer neuen Proteinsynthese.
