Abstract

1. Zufuhr von Harnstoff steigert beim Hunde den Ammoniakgehalt des Blutes nicht. 2. Die beim Menschen zu beobachtenden zentral-nervosen Symptome konnten durch Harnstoffbehandlung am Hund nicht reproduziert werden. 3. Im Gegensatz zu Harnstoff haben Ammoniumsalze keine diuretische Wirkung. Sie sind aber imstande, den Ammoniakgehalt des Blutes schnell fur kurze Zeit zu erhohen. 4. Zwischen Ammoniumcarbonat und Ammoniumchlorid besteht insofern ein Unterschied, als das letztgenannte Salz eine zweimalige Erhebung des Ammoniakgehalts im Blute bewirkt. 5. Saures Phosphat fuhrt ebenfalls einen schnellen Anstieg des Blutammoniaks herbei; Kochsalz dagegen nicht. 6. Vermutlich ist der zweite Anstieg des Ammoniakgehalts nach Ammoniumchlorid der — etwas verzogert einsetzenden — Sauerung zuzuschreiben. 7. Der Ammoniakgehalt des Blutes andert sich durchaus unabhangig von den gleichzeitigen Anderungen des Hamoglobingehalts infolge der Wasserbewegung nach Zufuhr der Salzlosungen.
