Glutathione has important functions in the process leading to cell growth and division. The healing phenomena in the excissional skin lesions of guinea pigs are stimulated by the local treatment of thiourea. Its sulphur was physiologically incorporated in the soluble thiol groups interpreted as glutathione. The statistical average of tissue glutathione values were determined by the DTNB method as 0.666 ± 0.033 mg/g wet, weight after thiourea treatment in test group and 0.241 ± 0.034 mg/g wet weight in control group.
