Investigation of magnesite-chromite refractories after service in copper-refining furnaces suggests chemical interaction of copper oxides with components of the refractory: a) periclase and olivine bond (the latter only assumed) forms with oxides of copper, solid solution; b) chrome-spinel forms new compounds of the spinel type Cu2O· Cr2O3 and Cu2O· Fe2O3. We determined the conditions for the formation and temperature boundaries of the stability of compounds Cu2O· Cr2O3.
