1. The variation of the ductile-brittle transition temperature with grain size is determined not only by the temperature dependence of the yield strength but also by the temperature dependence of the surface energy of brittle cracks. 2. The experimentally obtained variation of the critical temperature with grain size confirms the assumption that the decisive act in the process of brittle fracture of polycrystalline metals is not the nucleation and growth of intragranular microcracks but their extension beyond the boundaries of the grain.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 3 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Average | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Average | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
