Abstract

Die Fliesgrenzen A von Bentonitsuspensionen wurden in reinem Wasser und bei Zusatz von Elektrolyten in ihrer Zeitabhangigkeit bei verschiedenen Temperaturen bestimmt. Es ergab sich: 1. Die Endwerte der Fliesgrenze A∞ lassen sich fur verschiedene Bentonitkonzentrationen innerhalb des untersuchten Konzentrationsbereiches von 3 bis 7% durch eine Formel: A∞=b · Ca wiedergeben. 2. Die Geschwindigkeit der Versteifungsreaktion folgt bis auf einen kleinen Anfangsteil dem Reaktionsschema der 1. Ordnung. Die hiernach berechnete Geschwindigkeitskonstante erweist sich als unabhangig von der Bentonitkonzentration. 3. Mit A∞ und k sind zwei das thixotrope Verhalten charakterisierende Grosen gegeben. 4. Bei Zusatz von Elektrolyten nimmt der A∞-Wert zunachst zu und durchlauft dann ein Maximum. Nach der Lage des Maximums ordnen sich die untersuchten Elektrolyte in zwei Gruppen: die mit einwertigem Kation einerseits, die mit zweiwertigem Kation oder H-Ion andererseits. 5. Die k-Werte nehmen bei Elektrolytzusatz stark zu, im Bereich bis 16 Milliaquivalent/Liter um etwa eine Zehnerpotenz. Die zwei erwahnten Gruppen treten auch hier deutlich in Erscheinung. 6. Im Bereich von 20 bis 40° C zeigen sich die A∞-Werte praktisch temperaturunabhangig; die Geschwindigkeitskonstanten nehmen im gleichen Verhaltnis zu wie die Fluiditat des Wassers.
