A transparent upper gel disc electrophoretic technique was applied for the detection of mono- and oligo-clonal immunoglobulins. This method allows the visualization and densitometrical recording of those proportions of IgG and IgM retained in the upper concentration gel. WhileγA-globulins generally reach the lower separation gel, manyγG-globulins are retained in the transparent upper gel. In several cases, two or three abnormal bands were detected in sera containing a singleγM-paraprotein on immunoelectrophoresis.
