Abstract

Wahrend bei der nephelometrischen Untersuchung von weisen Trubungen Proportionalitat besteht zwischen der Menge des abgebeugten Lichts und dem Gehalt der Flussigkeit an trubender Substanz (vorausgesetzt, das die Trubungen durch Verdunnen der gleichen Stammsubstanz hergestellt sind), zeigen sich bei gefarbten Solen starke Abweichungen von dieser Regel. Konzentriertere gefarbte Sole (kolloides Silber, Indigo) verhalten sich beim Vergleich mit verdunnteren so, als ob sie weniger konzentriert seien und umgekehrt. Es konnte gezeigt werden, das als Ursache die Lichtabsorption seitens der truben Teilchen anzusprechen ist. Wahrend diese bei weisen Trubungen nicht merklich in Erscheinung tritt, ist sie bei gefarbten Trubungen sehr stark. Die Disproportionalitat in der Absorption wird besonders bedingt von denjenigen Wellenlangen, welche von dem trubenden Medium mehr oder minder absorbiert werden. Die selektive Absorption konnte durch geeignete Lichtfilter behoben werden. Als geeignete Lichtfilter erwiesen sich isochromatische Filter, d. h. dunne Schichten, welche aus der zu untersuchenden Substanz selbst bestanden. Sie wurden als Losung oder als Gelatinetrockenfilter zwischen Lichtquelle und Nephelometer geschaltet. Durch diese Versuchsanordnung ist es ermoglicht, gefarbte Trubungen und gefarbte Hydrosole in gleicher Weise nephelometrisch zu untersuchen, wie weise Trubungen; sie zeigen dann in weiten Grenzen Proportionalitat zwischen „Trubungsgrad“ und Gehalt an trubender Substanz.
