1. This instrument can be used in combination with an actuating device for effective control in fitting diameters of one of the conjugate components to the other by a method similar to that described in [3] or [4]. 2. The design of the clearance testing instrument (see Figure) provides the possibility of testing the clearance (or fit) across all the sections of a sliding pair by means of separate or synchronized displacements of its components with respect to the contact transducer probes. 3. A special adjusting arrangement of the clearance testing instrument provides single-valued determination of the clearance along all the measured cross sections of sliding pairs, as well as measurements of component sizes within the range of a given field of clearances. 4. The micrometric accuracy in measuring clearances (fits) of precision joints and in measuring the components is determined by the manufacturing and operating accuracy of the kinematic chain which transmits variations in the size of the measured bushing to the transducer plunger.
