An reinen Silberhalogenidemulsionen wird die spektrale Verteilung des Herschel-Effektes untersucht. Die gemessenen Aufhellungskurven sind in Ubereinstimmung mit den von Hilsch und Pohl gemessenen Absorptionsbanden von Silberhalogenidkristallen. Die physikalische Ursache des Herschel-Effektes ist die von Hilsch und Pohl angegebene Ruckbildung der Ag-Atome des latenten Bildes zu Ag-Ionen.
