The amount of loss due to macroinclusions in blanks for railway wheels when the steel is deoxidized with calcium silicon and ferrotitanium is lower than with the use of aluminum as a deoxidant. A reduction in loss results from the adhesion of the macroinclusions to the reaction layer which forms on the working surface of the upper part of the siphon.
