Es besteht die Moglichkeit der Verwechslung mit der einzelligenDactylococcopsis, doch sind die ahnlichenDactylococcopsis-Arten offenbar verkannteAnkistrodesmus-Arten.-Die Trichome erfahren nach Erreichen einer gewissen, geringen Lange eine Querteilung.-Durch starken mechanischen Druck last sich das Trichom in seine Einzelzellen zerlegen, wobei das Centroplasma an den zerrissenen Querwanden austritt.
