Microbodies are described in the mesophyll tissue of several conifer species. Cytochemical staining ofPinus strobus andPicea mariana with 3,3′ diaminobenzidine indicated the presence of catalase in microbodies. In older tissue microbody staining was variable with peroxidative activity occurring in mesophyll cell walls and the cytoplasm.
