This paper provides an overview of nonlinear system identification methodologies. The theory and application of nonlinear system identification is vast, and this overview is not intended to be comprehensive. Rather, the attempt here is to illustrate some of the salient features and key aspects of nonlinear system identification, especially those most relevant to the practitioner. In particular, this overview focuses on important issues in nonlinear system idenfication that differ from those encountered in linear system identification, including tests for nonlinearity, model selection, and input signal considerations.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 46 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% | |
| influence This indicator reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | Top 10% | |
| impulse This indicator reflects the initial momentum of an article directly after its publication, based on the underlying citation network. | Average |
