1. The reactions of alkyl vinyl ethers (the ethyl and butyl ethers) with pentaerythritol were studied for various proportions of the reactants. 2. It was shown that an alkyl vinyl ether reacts with pentaerythritol in presence of hydrochloric acid with formation of the bicyclic acetal of pentaery thritol, the dialkyl acetal of acetaldehyde, and the monohydric alcohol.
