Choice of brazing metal for brazing a carbide tool

Abstract

The choice of the form of brazing metal in brazing a carbide cutting tool is determined by the design of the joint, convenience in applying the brazing metal, and its cost. On the basis of an analysis of cutter test results and the cost of brazing Pr MNMts 68-4-2 brazing metal in the form of a strip of chip is recommended for brazing normal carbide tools. Reports that brazing of cutters with Pr MNMts 68-4-2 in the form of a strip of chip has been introduced into 3 plants of the country. Finds that the use of Pr MNMts 68-4-2 tool brazing alloy in the form of a strip of chip has a number of advantages including simplicity and speed in obtaining a strip of chip on a lathe, the low cost of it, the high quality of the brazed joints, and the possibility of obtaining plates of any form. The annual savings from the introduction of Pr MNMts 68-4-2 brazing metal in one of the plants was 6500 rubles.
