As automatic production lines are being introduced in powder metallurgy, the requirements for materials change, in particular the demand for copper powders of high flowability grows. The currently used electrolytic copper powders have a well-developed dendritic structure, and exhibit virtually no flowability. After mechanical processing not more than 5% of the product constitutes a free-flowing powder fraction. The remaining part consists of fine broken dendrites, and is therefore not easy to use.
