Abstract

1. The thermal decomposition of furazane in the gas phase proceeds by a biradical mechanism with the nonsynchronous cleavage of the N-O and C-C bonds in the ring. 2. The gas-phase monomolecular cyclodecomposition of furoxane is facilitated by 4–6 kcal/mole and proceeds by a concerted mechanism.
