Abstract

1. It has been shown by IR spectroscopy that in the reactions of NdCl3 and TBP, NdCl3 and diamyl sulfoxide, and TIBA and TBP, complex formation occurs at the sulfoxide oxygen. 2. The heat effect of the TIBA-TBP reaction has been calculated; the addition products have 1∶1 composition and form in the presence of excess TIBA. 3. In the NdCl3·3TBP-TIBA system the heat effect of the reaction depends on the Nd∶Al ratio; in the reaction products the Nd∶Al ratio is 1∶2.
