Abstract

Triethyl phosphite reacts with D, L-malic acid or its diethyl ester to give O,O-diethyl-1,2-di(ethoxycarbonyl)ethylphosphonate, and with mucic acid to give bis-(2-ethoxy-4-ethoxycarbonyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphol5-yl).
