75 people found to have low ocular tensions were examined for ocular or systemic disease which could have been the cause of hypotension. Errors of refraction or local eye disease could not be incriminated. A history of systemic disease which could possibly be associated with ocular hypotension was found in about one-quarter of those examined. Anaemia was the commonest single condition encountered. It is concluded that ocular tensions of 10 mm Hg or less may still be within the physiological range.
