Abstract

1. 1-[2-(Vinylthio)ethyl]-2-pyrrolidinone was synthesized. 2. New water-soluble polymers were prepared by the polymerization of 1 -[2-(vinylthio)ethyl]-2-pyrrolidinone and by its copolymerization with 1-vinyl-2-pyrrolidinone. 3. A study was made of the addition of alkanethiols to 1-[2-(vinylthio)ethyl]-2-pyrrolidinone under free-radical conditions.
