Effect of physical nonlinearity and orthotropy on the stress distribution around holes in a conical shell

Effect of physical nonlinearity and orthotropy on the stress distribution around holes in a conical shell

Abstract

The solution of nonlinearly elastic problems for conical orthotropic shells, which is obtained on the basis of the nonlinear theory of elasticity and plasticity of anisotropic media and the theory of orthotropic shells, is given. Basic relationships and nonlinear equations are used in studying the stress distribution around a circular hole in the lateral surface of a shell subjected to arbitrary surface and edge loads. The method and algorithm used for the numeric solution of the nonlinear problems are briefly discussed; numeric results are also presented and analyzed.

Keywords

Membranes, plasticity of anisotropic media, Stress concentrations, singularities in solid mechanics
