Preparation of polymeric products from p-cymene

Abstract

1. A method was developed for the preparation of a polymer from p-cymene by thermal polydehydrocondensation in a yield of about 40% on the amount of p-cymene taken for reaction. 2. An investigation was made of the effect of reaction time and reaction temperature in the polydehydrocondensation of p-cymene on the yield and molecular weight of polymer. 3. An explanation is given of some of the peculiar features of the polydehydrocondensation reaction.
