This work on developing, commissioning, and operating a direct-loading machine for 1 tf (100 kN) gives rise to the following conclusions. The chain loading scheme with i0 links enables one to implement the lO-stage loading series recommended by the standards with monotonically increasing or decreasing loads. The construction of the support and the lifting mechanisms provides accuracy in reproducing a given load. The accuracy of the machine is determined only by the error in adjusting the loads.
