1. The possibility of gas boronizing of high-alloy steels, including austenitic steels has been demonstrated. 2. It is shown that, during boronizing of high-alloy steels, a two-phase layer is produced in the early stages at the treatment temperature: a saturated solid solution (borides) followed by formation of a solid boride layer. 3. The boronized case on high-alloy steels has a high hardness and wear resistance.
