1. A study was made of the magnetic properties of titanium carbide base cermets containing metallic binders (30% iron or 33% steel). 2. It was found that, in accordance with earlier reports [1, 2], cementite forms during sintering in titanium carbide base cermets with a metallic iron-containing binder. The amount of cementite in the cermets investigated was 1.0–8.8%. Recommendations are put forward for the sintering of the cermets investigated. 3. It is shown that only the binder metal becomes impregnated with carbon during sintering, the composition of the titanium carbide remaining practically unchanged.
