The technical opianic acid, produced according to Technical Specification 64-6-30-73, contains not less than 70% of the main material with an admixture of cotarnine (II), mineral materials, water, and a series of various transformation products of opianic acid. Several methods have been proposed for the quantitative determination of opianic acid [i]. The method of liquid chromatography [I] makes it possible to carry out the simultaneous determination of opianic acid, cotarnine, and narcotine. Separation of components is carried out on SE SephadexG-25 during elution with phosphate buffer solution of pH 7.9. The method is quite lengthy and is associated with the use of a complex apparatus.
