The mechanism of pigment grease stabilization by lithium adipate

Abstract

1. It has been established that the direction and kinetics of property changes in greases at high temperatures are the result of the interaction of effects of two processes which exert the opposing effects of polymerizing the dispersion medium and decreasing the particle concentration of the disperse phase. 2. The possibility of retarding the catalytic activity of the isoviolanthrone by blocking the surface of thickener particles with lithium adipate has been established. Adsorption of the latter by isoviolanthrone has been experimentally confirmed. 3. A direction which appears promising for increasing the workability and stability of greases at high temperatures by modification of the disperse phase surface has been observed and developed.
