100 skeletal muscle capillaries from the biopsy specimens from 5 individuals free of known neuromuscular disease were studied to determine basement membrane widtht Range was from 1500 to 4400 A, with a mean of 2200 A. This degree of variability was no, different from the spectrum of basement membrane widths seen in pathological specimens indicating that such findings are not typical of or limited to diseased muscle.
