
AbstractRecent development in the theory of the boundary layer is considered. The model for the formation of a corona above the WD is discussed in some detail.The interaction of the boundary layer with the stellar interior and possible mixing between the hydrogen-rich accreted matter and the core material is discussed in view of recent numerical simulations of the boundary layer.
