It was noted that stiff-chain (para-aramid) and flexible chain (polyethylene) high-strength, high-modulus polymer fibres have been successfully used for ballistic protection of humans. It was hypothesized that new high-strength, high-modulus fibres based on aromatic polyesters could be successfully used for this purpose in the very near future.
