Bis(9~oxo-2-perimidyl) (I) is easily reduced by alkali metals and thallium in THF to generate the corresponding anion radicals and dianions. The anion radical with a potassium r was characterized by its EPR spectrum, which was indicative of delocalization of the unpaired electron density across the perimidine fragment, based on the following hyperfine splitting constants: aN, = 0.36; aN 3 = 0.30; aH 4,~,7 = 0.24; aHS, s = 0~ mT; g factor 2~176
