As parallel faces separated by a fluid film approach one another, a pressure is developed in the film. The reduced Navier-Stokes equations are solved by transform methods for both rectangular and cylindrical geometries. Relatively high pressures can exist at small asperities on the surfaces as they approach one another.
| selected citations These citations are derived from selected sources. This is an alternative to the "Influence" indicator, which also reflects the overall/total impact of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network (diachronically). | 26 | |
| popularity This indicator reflects the "current" impact/attention (the "hype") of an article in the research community at large, based on the underlying citation network. | Top 10% | |
