The secondary structure of pre-mRNA in the specific nuclear ribonucleoprotein particles was investigated. After ribonuclease treatment of nuclear particles the majority of double-stranded RNA sequences was conserved. The in vivo existence of hairpin-like RNA structures is discussed.
